Guerra has made horror films starring his own grandmother, documentaries with cult filmmakers like Ruggero Deodato and Roger Corman, and no-budget shorts featuring Brazilian celebrities. More than a biopic, "Amateur" draws a parallel between Guerra's career and the Brazilian independent fantastic cinema scene, revealing a culturally relevant filmography that inspires new generations to create their own films - proving that it is possible to make movies without the best cameras or the biggest budgets.
